The Cloisters Museum and Gardens Park, in northern Manhattan and is devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. The building and its cloistered gardens are treasures in themselves, effectively part of the collection housed there. The building is made up of parts from five separate cloisters, shipped from Europe and assembled into one amazing, ornate facility. The Cloisters Museum houses the largest collection of medieval art in North America, brought together in the 1920s by philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr.
